Here's a little bit of information about us, who we are, and why we are committed to helping people and organizations resolve conflict.

We've always been curious about what makes people tick and how to get along with each other.

While Nabil started college with the intention of becoming a medical doctor, it was his studies in cross-cultural differences, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication that really intrigued him and eventually changed his career choice. His interest in the field of conflict resolution led him to Northern Ireland and the Middle East where he studied these conflicts firsthand. He earned a Masters degree in Peace Studies/Conflict Resolution, took additional courses in facilitation, negotiation, and family and organizational systems and became a Chartered Mediator.

We've worked with thousands of individuals just like you who are trying to build stronger, healthier relationships by dealing with conflict effectively.

After years of working as the director of a mediation program in the not-for-profit world, Nabil opened his own conflict management consulting practice. Centre for Conflict Resolution International began operations in 1993. Gayle joined the firm a few years later. Together we have built CCR International into the thriving organization it is today - offering assessment, intervention, training, coaching, and consulting services to private and public sector organizations of all sizes.

While CCR International has focused on helping organizations manage conflict, our clients frequently tell us that what they learn about dealing with conflict is also helpful in their home lives. And so, when we decided it was time to write our book, Conflict is for the Birds , about conflict management styles, we knew that our focus wasn't just on helping people deal with conflict at work - it was helping people deal with conflict period.

We know, first hand, the positive potential of conflict.

We met while in grad school and proved the old saying that opposites attract. Consequently, we've had our share of misunderstandings, frustrations, and conflicts. Add two children to the mix (we have daughter and a son - both teenagers!) as well as the fact that we work together and we find ourselves constantly challenged to practice what we preach. But, in the midst of all this, we have discovered that working through our differences has made our marriage, our family and our business stronger.

Finding the positive potential in conflict is really what The Birds are all about. With every conversation we have, every question a client asks, every conflict situation we are asked to resolve, we learn more about how to improve and strengthen relationships. We are committed to sharing what we discover with you so that you too can experience the success that comes with building the healthy, strong relationships you want - with colleagues, friends and family.
